ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS

 

Reception.        Course members on arrival at Lahore Airport/Railway Station will be received by the College staff; provided the College has prior information in this regard. 

 

Joining Proforma.      All course members are advised to complete the joining proforma and return to the College immediately, alongwith passport size colour photographs in uniform (6 with cap, 6 without cap both with  negatives).

 

Accommodation (PN Officers).     No family accommodation is available at Lahore for the time being.  As such, single accommodation will be provided to the course members in the Wardroom Mess of PNS PUNJAB at Walton.

 

Dress

 

a.         The normal working dress in the College is Summer Working  (white Service shirt with ribbons, a name tally, white trousers and white shoes).  The winter dress (service blue/black trousers with white shirt, black jersey with ribbons, a name tally, and black shoes) is required during winter periods.

 

b.         Summer and Winter ceremonial dresses may also be required for ceremonial functions at Lahore.

 

c.         There are occasions during the course, particularly on "National Days and International Night"; when it is appropriate for officers to wear their own national dresses.

 

d.         Lounge/combination suits are also required.

 

e.         Evening dress for the College is closed collar.

 

Pay and Allowances. Pakistan Armed Forces officers continue to draw their pay and allowances through the normal channel.  Foreign officers are to draw their pay and allowances through their embassies.  All queries regarding individual pay and allowances must be settled before arrival at the College.

 

Leave.             No leave other than recess leave would be allowed during training period except on extreme compassionate grounds.  For such leave, officers from friendly countries are required to obtain written recommendation from their respective embassies/high commissions.  Officers proceeding on out station leave are to seek permission for leaving station.

 

Passports/Visas Allied Officers.       Officers from friendly countries should obtain a visa for 10 months to cover the duration of the Staff Course.  It is preferable to have a multiple entry visa to be able to re-enter the country after term breaks, without going through the formalities of obtaining visa every time.

 

Police Registration.   Allied course members are required to get themselves registered with the local authorities on arrival and departure from the country.  They are to contact DS (Admin) in this regard.

 

Bank Accounts.          Branches of Pakistani banks are located near the College.  Officers are advised to open a bank account on arrival.  Officers from friendly countries may prefer to maintain a foreign exchange account during their stay in Pakistan.  Transfer of funds from foreign banks can be time consuming.  In Pakistan, banking hours are restricted to forenoon only.

 

Security.         Detailed instructions on security are contained in the College Standing Orders for strict compliance.  Members are to guard all printed material against falling into unauthorized hands.

 

Identity Card.             On arrival, all officers from friendly countries will be issued temporary identity cards.  This card is to be returned to the College Secretary prior departure from the country.

 

 Sports.            The PN War College sports include Soft Ball, and Cricket.  Sports afternoons are programmed throughout the course and members are encouraged to take active part in these activities.  PN Staff Course will be required to play Soft Ball and Cricket matches with the Army and Air Force staff courses during Exercise Tri-Brachial at Command and Staff College, Quetta.
