Soon after the induction of the first submarine in the PN Fleet i.e
Ex PNS/M GHAZI, the Submarine School was established at PN Dockyard
in 1964 as an initial step towards submarine training in PN. Being
a budding institution, this school was limited to classroom level conduct
of very few basic courses for officers and sailors. With subsequent
expansion of the PN S/M force, it was re-established in 1980 as The
Submarine Training Centre in the present premises at PNS BAHADUR. Since
establishment, STC has become self sufficient in all types of Submarine
Training requirements and has been progressively equipped with modern
Submarine training facilities.
This center was renamed as Submarine School and was placed under PNS BAHADUR
for quite some time. In order to uplift the quality of S/M operational training
as an autonomous unit and achieve common training objectives/goals along
with COMSUBS and FOST, Naval Headquarters re-designated submarine school
as Submarine Training centre in August 2000.
STATUS AND UTILIZATION
STC being the main training organization for PN S/M force provide
S/M training from basic to advance levels of both technical and operational
natures. In addition to regular yearly academic training programme
, particular emphasis is given on operational training through simulators.
Occasional special requirements from the S/M squadron and HQ FOST like
workups of S/M crew are also catered by STC. STC also carry out training
of midget crews of the SSG( N). The sonar tape listening facility at
STC is also extended to ship's and aircraft sonar operators. Like other
PN training units, STC operates under CTA for its regular training.
However, STC also looks after operational training requirement on simulators
promulgated by FHQ, COMSUBS and HQ FOST as and when required. In order
to meet requirements of versatile nature of courses i.e being of Ops
and technical trades, STC interacts with various commands for provision
of training. These include:
• HQ FOST
• FHQ
• COMSUBS
• MEHRAN
• IQBAL
• KARSAZ
• BAHADUR (for logistic support)

of PN, it is considered a matter of pride to be appointed as instructor
at STC. Having experience of almost four decades now, STC has attained
high standards of training in PN. The information available at STC
in form of reservoir of documents, books, S/M related periodicals and
movies etc. facilitates all the academic requirements of the students.
